Wings Over Crystalline Landscape
Taiji Terasaki Exhibition September 5 (Fri) – October 1 (Wed), 2025 at Ryosokuin Temple
As the season of butterfly migration arrives, Ryosokuin Temple in Kyoto will host “Wings Over Crystalline Landscape,” an exhibition by artist Taiji Terasaki. Drawing a poetic parallel between the metamorphosis of butterflies and the crystallization of minerals, this exhibition presents over 40 works that reflect on the relationship between nature and humanity, stillness and transformation—resonating with the minimalist and profound beauty of the Zen temple architecture.
Visitors will also experience an interactive AR installation tracing the migratory path of butterflies, and can enjoy viewing the exhibition with a specially crafted fan scented with fuji-bakama (Eupatorium japonicum).
During the exhibition period, tea gatherings will be held in the temple’s traditional teahouse “Rinchitei,” offering a tranquil space for quiet contemplation.
